Refund Policy
1. Overview
This Refund and Returns Policy explains when and how you can return goods purchased from Avomart and receive a refund, repair, or replacement. It complies with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA") and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 ("ECT Act").
It applies in addition to your rights under our Terms and Conditions.
2. Cooling-off period — change of mind (ECT Act s.44)
You have the right to cancel an online purchase for any reason within 7 (seven) calendar days of receiving the goods. To exercise this right:
- Email support@avomart.co.za within the 7-day window with your order number and the reason for cancellation.
- Return the goods in their original, unused condition with all original packaging, tags, and accessories intact.
- You are responsible for the cost of returning the goods to us under the cooling-off right.
Once we receive and inspect the returned goods, we will refund the purchase price (excluding the original delivery fee) within 30 days, in accordance with section 44 of the ECT Act.
The cooling-off right does not apply to:
- goods made to your specifications or personalised;
- perishable goods;
- goods that have been unsealed or that cannot be returned for hygiene or safety reasons;
- newspapers, periodicals, magazines and books;
- any other goods or services excluded under section 42(2) of the ECT Act.
3. Defective, unsafe, or non-conforming goods (CPA s.55–56)
Under section 55 of the CPA you have the right to receive goods that are reasonably suitable for their intended purpose, of good quality, in good working order, and free of defects.
If, within 6 (six) months of delivery, the goods are defective, unsafe, or fail to meet the standards required by the CPA, you may return them at our cost and choose between:
- a repair of the goods;
- a replacement of the goods; or
- a full refund of the purchase price.
To exercise this right:
- Email support@avomart.co.za with your order number, a description of the defect, and photos or video if possible.
- We will arrange a collection at our cost. Do not pay for your own return shipment in this case.
- Once we receive the goods and confirm the fault, we will action your chosen remedy within a reasonable period.
This right is in addition to any manufacturer's warranty that may apply to the product.
4. Wrong or damaged items on delivery
If the item delivered is not what you ordered, is damaged in transit, or arrives incomplete:
- Email support@avomart.co.za within 72 hours of delivery with photos of the parcel and the issue.
- We will arrange a collection of the incorrect or damaged item and dispatch the correct replacement at our cost, or refund you in full if a replacement is not possible.
5. How refunds are processed
- Refunds are processed to the original payment method used for the order.
- Card refunds typically reflect within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
- Refunds for EFT or store credit payments are processed within 7 business days of approval.
- Original delivery fees are not refunded for change-of-mind returns. Delivery fees are refunded in full for defective, damaged, or incorrect items.
6. How to initiate a return
- Email support@avomart.co.za with your order number and the reason for the return.
- We will reply with the return address and, where applicable, arrange courier collection.
- Pack the goods securely with all original packaging and accessories.
- Once the goods arrive and pass inspection, we process your refund, repair, or replacement.
7. Items that cannot be returned
For hygiene, safety, or legal reasons, the following cannot be returned unless they are defective:
- opened personal care, health, or beauty products;
- opened or used underwear, swimwear, and earrings;
- perishable goods (food, flowers);
- downloadable or digital products that have been accessed or downloaded;
- gift cards.
8. Disputes
If we cannot resolve a refund or returns issue directly, you may refer the matter to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (www.cgso.org.za) or the National Consumer Commission (www.thencc.gov.za).
